Development and service of drilling fluid

A fundamentally new type of starch reagent for the preparation of drilling fluids and special well-completion and workover fluids


  • General characterization: Starch mucilage is gelatinized in a salt brine;
  • Water solubility: 100%;
  • Appearance of the ready-to-use reagent: Viscous pale gray or gray-green fluid;
  • Solids content in the reagent: 2-10%;
  • Reagent density: 1250-1450 kg / m3;
  • pH: 6.0-6.5;


  • SSG formed during the stirring starch suspension in solutions of certain types of salts in a ratio of specific heat and density.
  • SSGs can be prepared on the basis of brines produced in the territory of Ukraine or on the basis of dry salt produced by industry and delivered in standard packaging.
  • SSG can be prepared directly in the well and the special stationary node. For SSG requires a stirring device - clay mixer or agitators. SSG possible to obtain a cementing machine hopper or directly into the wellbore.
  • By changing the concentration of starch is possible to adjust the viscosity properties of the SSG widely.


  • agent for the treatment of drilling fluids;
  • base fluid damping, repair and perforations (density compositions without the addition of weighting agents from 1100 to 1450 kg / m3);
  • visco-elastic seals and buffer liquid;
  • fracturing fluid and fluid - media proppant material;
  • compositions for temporary blocking of the bottomhole formation zone.


  • SSG can be used to process all types of drilling fluids, water-based. Application SSG reduces fluid loss and increase the inhibitory properties of a washing system.
  • Drilling fluids based on SSGs have a high level of salinity and can be used for drilling chemogenic deposits, and for the opening of unstable clastic complexes.
  • Flushing system based on SSG provide inhibitory effect on the clay-containing rocks at vysokokaltsievogo mud, and recovery rate of permeability reservoirs - at hlorkalievogo mud.
  • The content of the drilling fluid in the reagent is in the range of 1.8-2.0% (on dry substance)


Compared with conventional starch reagent GSB has:

  • higher rheology;
  • higher stabilizing properties;
  • high density;
  • resistance to enzymatic degradation (which allows it to be used to treat all types of drilling fluids and special fluids);
  • high inhibitory effect on argillaceous rocks;
  • salt solutions based gels do not cause the dissolution of salts (caving) at penetration of salt strata;
  • saline gels can be the basis for creating a clay-free drilling fluids with a threshold weighting up to 2300 kg / m3.
  • Efficiency GSB is most pronounced in highly mineralized weighted washing systems used for opening chemogenic strata with streaks of potassium-magnesium salts. GSB reduces consumption of starch, weighting and salts to enhance the mineralization of the washing liquid.
  • SSG is virtually unfiltered liquid, allowing the maximum extent to ensure the preservation of the natural properties of reservoir rocks.
  • Structures on the basis SSG have a low freezing point (for solutions with a density of 1280 kg / m3 - below -50° C).
  • Thermal compound on the basis of the SSG - 120-140 °C.
  • SSG is non-toxic and environmentally completely safe.


  • During the primary treatment is observed coagulation and increased water loss wash liquid. Thickening effect increases with increasing solids content. After entering the calculated amount of HPC, the parameters of washing liquid stabilized.
  • SSG is combined with reagents only resistant to polyvalent salt aggression starch, CMC, CSSC and others.
