The use of invert-emulsion drilling mud (IEDM) Witer II for well killing and workover operations confirmed high efficiency and relevance of hydrocarbon drilling muds. The next step is application of IEDM for formation exposing, under high temperatures and pressures in open hole.
The development of hydrocarbon drilling fluids with a density of more than 2000 kg/m3 and 200°C temperature resistance is required due to increase depth of drilling and exposing zones with abnormally high formation pressure. In addition, the unresolved problem is cementing of intervals, drilled with IEDM.
These issues were discussed with the participation of specialists Oil and Gas Institute and PSPW Company in Krosno.
