Development and service of drilling fluid

Businessmen conclude agreements with those whom they can understand and trust; states refuse being independent in order to become a member of international unions created by the countries with a similar mentality where trust emerges on the basis of mutual understanding. Cultural compatibility is a basis for economic cooperation.

Laboratory and field tests of the invert-emulsion drilling mud Witer II in Ukraine became a wonderful completion of the ten year period of our cooperation with the Polish service that specializes in drilling muds – PSPW Company. Since 2005, we conducted a tremendous number of joint studies aimed at improving the quality of the drilling mud systems in Ukraine. Among the successful developments there are the following; use of organic colmatant K-200 to reduce filter cake permeability of clayless drilling muds, prevention of packing when using the compositions that contain Detergent W, improvement of the drilling mud lubricating properties with the help of the Superlub reagent, and many others. Our Polish partners provided invaluable help regarding the methodological support of the experiments, as well as regarding the supply and setting-up of the imported devices.

Our cooperation was given renewed momentum in 2014 when we stopped purchase of chemical reagents from the RF. It was a very difficult period when all our suppliers of modified starch, micromarble, potash chloride, and some other products were gone at the same time. At that moment, the PSPW Company supported us a lot and that allowed us to gain time and completely solve the problem both due to the organization of our own production, and looking for new ways of trade supplies.

It should be also said about the emulsion drilling mud development. At first, we planned to cooperate on this issue with the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas. We even conducted negotiations in Moscow and brought some samples of the reagents. But the Crimean occupation brought everything to nothing. Then we addressed the Polish ... It turned out that they had been conducting the works for a long time but very slowly and with little results. We had to activate them a little bit ... As a result, we obtained an excellent hydrocarbon system Witer II with the density of 2000 kg/m3 and thermal stability being almost equal to 200 oC. Today we use this system at the fourth well.

We made a report on the results of our joint work at the Polish conference. The effect was colossal! The report generated enormous interest and it was vigorously discussed. for objectivity's sake, we should notice that it is difficult to grab such attention to a person's own work in Ukraine. We believe that the system Witer II will soon be used in Poland.

Below there is a photo report on the stay of our delegation in Poland and participation in the conference proceedings, but at first – a little bit of history.
